So We Never Forget

A few years ago, back when I was a college student, I was talking about Palestine and Israel with some colleagues and a colleague, who's had most of his school education in a gulf country, says: "but Israel has always been there. Tel Aviv has always been part of Israel, not Palestine!" It's been just a bit over 60 years and many of us have forgotten. What would happen 20 years later? No one will know what Palestine is? I keep wondering how the Arabs of that time let this disaster happen, but then I remember that we were nothing but colonized countries. And whether I want to believe it or not, regretting will get us nowhere. The truth is that now, there's no country called Palestine on many maps; It's either Gaza and West Bank or Palestinian territories at best. I don't see Palestine being free anytime soon with all their political groups fighting and the people not finding a leader. But I know for sure that we shall never forget Palestine, no matter h...

Egypt Revolts: Day Sixteen

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011   This revolution has changed people, they have changed their lives. It has made them think differently, it has made them react with dignity to everything, it has made them think more positively, it has given them the power to say NO loudly. And so: Today, protests and strikes were all over the country. The revolution was always all over the country, but today everyone protested and striked at work. I couldn't even remember all the names of the cities and firms that had protests today. I don't even think that there was one city across Egypt that didn't have a protest today. The streets were closed everywhere because of the protests, so I was unable to go to Tahrir, but the numbers are huge there. The cabinet meeting even had to move because of the protests. Yesterday Omar Soliman has said that it's either a dialogue and people accept to wait, or a military coup. People shut him up by protesting everywhere. Today he came again saying tha...

Americans, Don't Let your Government Fool you

Dear Americans, You've been fooled for too long. I know you're more concerned with you internal affairs more than anything else, but what's happening now should be completely unacceptable by you. Didn't they tell you that they're taking your money and your army to Iraq to fight dictatorship? Isn't the American Dream all about freedom and human rights? Why fight dictatorship in Iraq by colonizing the country and not even condemn the killing of people in Libya? Don't let your government fool you anymore, it's either they condemn what's happening in Libya or be frank and stop talking about human rights.

The Domino Effect: Libya

Tunisia revolts and Ben Ali kills more than a hundred and everyone starts talking about how brutal he is....... then he falls. Egypt revolts and Mubarak kills more than three hundred and everyone starts saying that he made Ben Ali look like an angel when he used snipers, had cars run over people, brought thugs and police and gave them Molotov cocktails and live ammunition, and even had animals involved in this massacre...... then he falls. Libya revolts to join her two next door neighbors in the list of free Arab countries, but is met by a war criminal. I'll will not say the he made Mubarak look like an angel, because we all know that Mubarak wanted our army to fire on us. I'll say that we were more fortunate to have the whole army refuse to fire on us. The mad dog didn't only make the army kill their people using air crafts, but has also brought many mercenaries to kill Libyans. These mercenaries are given a huge amount of money, of course from Libya's accounts. He u...

Egypt, Now and Then; Right Now

I never knew that I could be that depressed, I literally didn't know that I had the ability to be that hurt. For the Egyptians who died, our martyrs. For the Muslims and Christians who fell in the trap, for those who gave the terrorists the time of their lives by fighting each other, by hating each other. On the first of January, my family and I did what we had to do, what we could do at that time. We called our Christian friends and offered them our deepest condolences. But this isn't only their loss, it's our loss, it's all of Egypt's loss. 22  Egyptian families are mourning the death of a family member, a loved one, a best friend. Others are mourning the loss of innocent human beings, religious ones, who were celebrating a new year. Others are thinking of the loss of a country who's people are too busy fighting each other to save it from falling. No religion would see this as a good deed. Not a single normal human being would. Only those brainwashed, only tho...

Will we EVER Wake up?!!!

Whatever happened to us? All of us, can't we do anything more than watching?? No, this time it's not only Egyptians, it's the whole Arab world, I'm not even sure if I can still call us Arabs. Every single person of US, how can we see human beings killed and not do anything about it?? And they're just not any human beings, these people gave their lives to try to free Gaza!!! What have we done? Yes WE, not only our governments, all of us. Our governments did everything to help Israel  with Gaza's Siege. We the Arabs, didn't approve to this, but what have we done to stop it? NOTHING, absolutely nothing. These people gave their lives trying to break Gaza's siege at a time when fellow Arabs were silent, too busy thinking of which football team will be going to the Worldcup. Haven't we all noticed that we can be, very soon, in those people's place? That people are dying because of OUR silence? When will we wake up? When will we understand that we have...
