Revolution 2.0: And a Month Has Passed....

It has been the best month in the history of Egypt, a month that was filled with different feelings. It has been a month that changed Egypt and Egyptians. It has been a month that has started with a flame of hope that came from the Tunisian revolution and increased with the enthusiasm of the activists. January 25th has stared with a few of us believing that a revolution might come to life, but this day has ended with a renewed hope and belief that grew, as the day went on, in the hearts of all Egyptians. The belief has turned into power when tens of thousands protested in the streets of Egypt not afraid of death anymore. The sounds of our chants moved the grounds beneath our feet, the strong will in our hearts has proved that there's no turning back. A new fear came into our hearts when the police took off their uniforms and came back as thugs and looters. When it was normal to hear the sound of gunfire every thirty minutes or maybe even less. Then the fear disappeared and came ba...

80 Reasons to Love the Egyptian Revolution 2.0

Friday of Crawling, 11.02.2011 Now that we have won, after 18 days of hard work, it's time to list all the positive points of this revolution. I want to keep this list close to me to remind me of what people's power can do. I loved our revolution because... Kollena Khaled Saeed's admin remained unknown for everyone, even most of those who worked with them until he got arrested. The 6th of April Movement's leaders weren't in the picture either. Kollena Khaled Saeed and The 6th of April Movement cooperated together as one to bring our revolution into life. The internet was used to spread the word about the revolution and everyone shared the Facebook event and invited their friends until the invitation reached more than a million. The 6th of April Movement has also worked on the ground and spread the word around the whole country, not only in Cairo and Alexandria, never minding the police that was always arresting their activists. Both movements were very opt...

Thank you, 2010

Thank you 2010 for the happy moments and the lessons learned. Thanks for making me more optimistic, for making me see the filled half of the cup. Thanks for making me enjoy the good stuff and learn from my mistakes. Thank you for giving me more strength, for making me accept whatever comes and work on making the best out of it. Thank you for making me learn that God always does what's best for me, for making me learn that nothing, or noone, should be taken for granted. Thank you for letting me know that I should only  judge after I try. Thanks for reminding me that I always need to work hard if I want the best. Thanks for reminding me of my duties toward my country and my family. Thanks for making me more independent, for making me think of people's feelings, not only mine. Thanks for making me stronger, for making me one year wiser, for giving me the ability to love deeper, for making me think outside the box. Thanks for letting me do what I love most, for proving to me that n...

To a Season of Memories.... and a Year of Blogging

Sweet sweet memories... Memories that are added to every year. Memories of many many Christmases, happy memories that make me love what we Egyptians call winter even more. Decorated Christmas trees that sit by windows, by shops and in malls. Christmas carols played everywhere. Red, white and green , the colors of happiness, the colors of love, peacefulness and nature. Thank you my dear Christmas for drawing a smile on my face =). I've been blogging for a year, and it's been awesome. My first post was about Christmas, about the colors of happiness, about my colorful memories of 22 Christmases. On my 23rd Christmas, I have the memory of my first and favorite blog post to add to my long list. Thank you Google for giving me the awesome Blogger, thank you for giving me the chance to speak my mind, to say whatever I please, to show the other side of me. I simply love you...

Rest in Peace Sweet Memories

I've been working 16 hours a day for four days now to catch an MPEG meeting when yesterday after 12 hours of debugging, I've decided that I needed a break. Having to face the fact that I can't afford more than a five minute break, I decided to listen to a song on Youtube. To cheer myself up and remember the good ol' days, I chose to listen to a Boyzone song. Ten years ago (and when I say that I feel really old), Boyzone was my favorite band along with Backstreet Boys. I've spent long long times of my days listening to their songs and singing them. I knew each and every song of theirs by heart. I haven't missed one of their videos, I was one of those crazy teenagers (whom I loved and still do), who'd spend all her vacation watching MTV and downloading new songs. So back to yesterday, I've decided to watch A Different Beat , one of my favorites. It's a song that talks about humanity and how everyone is equal. The minute I Youtubed Boyzone, I found an e...

The Sweetest of Memories

25.05.2009.... One year has passed, one whole year!! This wonderful day, an unforgettable day, a day that comes once in a lifetime. We were the stars that day, and by we, I mean GUC's class 09. It was like we had paparazzi cameras all around us, a day full of smiles and laughter. A day full of memories, memories of five years, five years that have flown by and without us even knowing. They're bittersweet memories that will last a lifetime. Those memories, the memories of our photo-shoot, will forever be carved in my heart. They're memories of an amazing day, a day to treasure.  I owe a lot to my beloved GUC, I am who I am today because of the GUC. It's made a better person out of me, a hard-worker, an independent, strong, well educated person. I've learned a lot in these five years, I've enjoyed them at times, hated my life at other times, but all in all, I know that this decision was the best I've ever made in my life.  That day, is one of the many many th...

Happy New Life

I am not a big fan of odd numbered years. That hatred started on 2001, not only because of 9/11 which gave the American government the chance to ruin the world and gave Al Qaeda the chance to kill so many innocent Americans and non Americans (who could've been Arabs and Muslims too if that's how they think of people). But there is something about me and my family too, a day that non of us will forget. I had a very bad car accident one week before 9/11 in the United States and I was saved by those same people who were killed in 9/11. Americans helped us to get to hospitals and made sure that we got all we wanted. I was all alone in a hospital room and my family were in another hospital, and those Americans made sure to comfort me and tell me that the rest of us are OK. Don't get me wrong, it's the American people who I love and not the American government, I hate the American government just like I hate the Egyptian government. For those many reasons 2001, and other odd ...

Red, White and Green

It's that time of the year again!! Living in a country where it's summer most of the year makes you love winter =). I love those cold winter days when you feel like you want to run so you can feel a little warmer. I love spending cold winter nights wearing tons of clothes and drinking a cup of hot chocolate.  December is very special for me, it's the season of celebrations. No, I don't celebrate Christmas, but yes, I love Christmas. First, it's the season of decorations, that I finally see a lot of around here. It's the season of wonderful looking Christmas trees, Huge ones that stand in malls or by shops, and smaller ones that you might find lit up, with little colored lamps, near a window in some houses. It's the season of Christmas plants, the red colored leaves that look like...well, like Christmas. They look so good, that you'd want to smile whenever you see one. It's season of snow (well, at least in some lucky countries), snowmen and snowb...
