Thank you, 2010

Thank you 2010 for the happy moments and the lessons learned. Thanks for making me more optimistic, for making me see the filled half of the cup. Thanks for making me enjoy the good stuff and learn from my mistakes. Thank you for giving me more strength, for making me accept whatever comes and work on making the best out of it. Thank you for making me learn that God always does what's best for me, for making me learn that nothing, or noone, should be taken for granted. Thank you for letting me know that I should only  judge after I try. Thanks for reminding me that I always need to work hard if I want the best. Thanks for reminding me of my duties toward my country and my family. Thanks for making me more independent, for making me think of people's feelings, not only mine. Thanks for making me stronger, for making me one year wiser, for giving me the ability to love deeper, for making me think outside the box. Thanks for letting me do what I love most, for proving to me that nothing's impossible. Thanks for helping me find inner peace, for making me use my imagination everyday. Thanks for being so enjoyable... Farewell 2010. I'm looking forward to you, 2011 and I know, that you'll be as good as 2010 was only if I work on making you so.

Who Voted for Shafiq?

After standing in a line with the Heliopolis ladies who were mostly voting for Shafiq, I came back home wondering why would anyone do such thing? The most popular answer I got from the ladies was in fear of Ikhwan. Knowing that the percentage of Christians here is more than in other places, and knowing that us, the ladies of Heliopolis, can never live the life of Ikhwan with what Azza El Garf says about FGM and sexual harassment laws, with forcing us to wear or not wear something (even the veiled of us), with having men control our lives, with having someone control our religious practices it makes sense to be against Ikhwan. And being one of those ladies, I too am against Ikhwan and anyone who mixes religion with politics. Egypt Uprising 2013: One Last Push

June 29, 2013 Tamarod Tamarod (Rebel), the public movement that has been collecting signatures for the past two months to call for early presidential elections with the aim of finding a legal way to topple President Mohamed Morsi, announced the final signature count in a press conference this morning. The number announced was 22,134,465 signatures. Mahmoud Badr, the movement's founder, made a call for more than 22 million people to join the protests tomorrow and stay in the streets until they bring Morsi down. He also announced that the president's legitimacy has fallen after they've collected a number of signatures th at is more than 85% of the number of voters in the presidential elections. Badr answered those who question the number by demanding early elections, saying that this was the only way to prove the accuracy of either of their numbers. The announcement was met with celebratory reactions among many Egyptians...   Support Since April 6 movement
