A Week of Blessings

I'm very happy that I was able to cheer some up with last week's list of blessings, so without further ado, here's this week's list of blessings, and it's pink, as it always will be.

  1. Making people happy.
  2. Smiling to yourself for absolutely no reason you know of.
  3. Being in love,  not just that partner-kind-of-love, but being in love with yourself, being in love with life, being in love with your family, being in love with your friends, being in love with your country, being in love with your job, and of course, being in love with your partner if you have one.
  4. Finishing up a semester of hard work.
  5. A day that would bring sweet memories of how hard you've worked on something years ago, and how good the outcome was.
  6. Being strong enough to say exactly how you feel without being afraid of the consequences.
  7. Making new friends, and discovering how awesome they are.
  8. Family memories.
  9. The sea.
  10. Revolution Graffiti.
And I said it last week, and I'll say it again: spread the love, make your own lists.

Who Voted for Shafiq?

After standing in a line with the Heliopolis ladies who were mostly voting for Shafiq, I came back home wondering why would anyone do such thing? The most popular answer I got from the ladies was in fear of Ikhwan. Knowing that the percentage of Christians here is more than in other places, and knowing that us, the ladies of Heliopolis, can never live the life of Ikhwan with what Azza El Garf says about FGM and sexual harassment laws, with forcing us to wear or not wear something (even the veiled of us), with having men control our lives, with having someone control our religious practices it makes sense to be against Ikhwan. And being one of those ladies, I too am against Ikhwan and anyone who mixes religion with politics. Egypt Uprising 2013: One Last Push

June 29, 2013 Tamarod Tamarod (Rebel), the public movement that has been collecting signatures for the past two months to call for early presidential elections with the aim of finding a legal way to topple President Mohamed Morsi, announced the final signature count in a press conference this morning. The number announced was 22,134,465 signatures. Mahmoud Badr, the movement's founder, made a call for more than 22 million people to join the protests tomorrow and stay in the streets until they bring Morsi down. He also announced that the president's legitimacy has fallen after they've collected a number of signatures th at is more than 85% of the number of voters in the presidential elections. Badr answered those who question the number by demanding early elections, saying that this was the only way to prove the accuracy of either of their numbers.
